GST |
Goods & Service Tax (GST) is touted to be India's biggest tax reform. GST is a consumption-
based tax on the supply of goods and services, right from the manufacturer to the consumer.
Credits of input taxes paid at each stage will be available in the subsequent stage of value
addition, which makes GST essentially a tax only on value addition at each stage. The final
consumer will thus bear only the GST charged by the last dealer in the supply chain, with set-off
benefits at all the previous stages.
Goods & Service Tax (GST) is expected to roll out in India in mid-2017. GST will have a huge
impact on the Tax Structure, Tax Incidence, Tax Computation, Tax Payment, Compliance and
Credit Utilization. With a dual GST regime and levy of GST on inter-state supplies of goods and
services, Indian GST will be far more complex than the already prevailing GST in other countries.
